There appears to be no end to the numbers of people streaming through the entrance portal of Istanbul’s Topkapi Place Museum. People arriving along the tree lined walkway and head towards the Entrance doorway, whilst others leave the Palace by the same doorway and which is on an axis that presents a framed view of the Blue Mosque. Doorways is the Travel Theme prompt on Ailsa’s http://www.wheresmybackpack.com blog this week. Images of the Topkapi entrance doorway are my response to the prompt.

The Tall ship Sedov now owned by Russia has some interesting connections. Launched in Germany in 1921, named Magdalene Vinnen II, it was sold and renamed Kommodore Johnsen in 1936. After the surrender of Germany in the 2nd World War, the ship was given to Soviet Union as war reparation by the British. It has since been converted into a sail training vessel of the Soviet Navy. With 32 sails totalling 4.192 sq m, connected with a myriad of ropes and four masts, the number of connections on this ship are endless. Connections is the prompt on Ailsa’s Travel Theme this week, www.wheresmybackpack.com. The Sedov was recently on a short visit to Cape Town, and I had an opportunity to climb on board, camera in hand. These are some of the images that represent my, perhaps different, interpretation of this weeks “connections” prompt…………the journey continues………..
With the arrival of spring in the Southern Hemisphere a few weeks ago, there was an explosion of colour amidst the Fynbos at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Sunbirds having a feast on the numerous species within this floral kingdom. I was out there recently, camera in hand, trying to capture the scene. “Delicate” is the prompt on Ailsa’s Travel Theme this week (www.wheresmybackpack.com), so these images of the commonly called “pincushion” are rather appropriate ………….the journey continues………..
Paragliders with multi-coloured wings float across the sky, making their way from Signal Hill over the densely populated Atlantic seaboard, before descending for the landing onto the lawns on the promenade. The dramatic impact of a huge canopy carrying up to two people always generates a lot of interest, with activity in the area almost coming to a standstill until the occupants are safely on the ground, and the wing deflates. Multi-coloured is Ailsa’s prompt on the Travel theme this week (www.wheresmybackpack.com).

Perhaps more angled than tilted, these balconies of an apartment building in Orestad outside Copenhagen are my submission for Ailsa’s prompt for the Travel Theme on www.wheresmybackpack.com   …………the journey continues……….
Ailsa’s travel theme prompt for this week on http://www.wheresmybackpack.com is Motion. Waves at high tide moving toward the shore as well as activity along the Sea Point Promenade are my response to this prompt.
