Shadow

The 45m high Ponte Dom Luis (Bridge) in Porto, spanning across the Duoro River provides the perfect vantage point for an overview of the Ribeira District along the waters edge. With numerous Cafe’s and restaurants lining the riverside district, the area attracts tourists and locals alike. The low sun angle in the late afternoon creates larger than life shadows of people walking on the timber access ramp from the quayside to the road level. Shadow is the prompt on the Weekly Photo Challenge this week, and images of these shadows are my response to the prompt.

52 Photos Project : Shadows

Shadows……hmmmmm…posted some nice examples last week in the Black and white prompt :-).
We are in the midst of Winter, so sunrise is at a fairly decent hour these days 🙂 I was out to Signal Hill above the city last week, at this time to get some shots of the Sunrise. The light is beautifully soft and shadows are very long and distinct. Surprisingly, there was quite a lot of activity, cyclists, runners, walkers and others just out to enjoy the special time of the morning. The City made an amazing backdrop as light streamed in and bounced off the tall buildings and cast shadows all over.
My “shadows” post has a few of the images I shot on that morning……………..the journey continues……….

52 Photos Project – Black and White

The prompt for this week on the 52 Photos Project had me a bit undecided about which images I should post, until I remembered a series I shot recently called “larger than life”. I suppose the images explain why that title was chosen :-). They came about when I had an idea to try and shoot an image like that, so when the opportunity presented itself, I shot a few more than I originally had in mind. My favourite in the series is the one with the guy carrying the ladder, which was a pure coincidence.
One of my reasons for choosing these was that they were almost monochromatic to start with, so in my opinion, were quite appropriate for the prompt. Thanks to Lightroom, I managed to get them to be “black and white” Thanks to Bella, another great prompt 🙂 ………………..the journey continues………….
