big wheel keeps on turning………………

The last post had us leaving South African borders and heading to the Spanish city of Barcelona. Today’s post brings us all the way back. However, I thought, why not linger for just a little before jetting back home 🙂 So we head off to Paris along the Champs Elysees, with views of the Eiffel tower in the background.
I was in Paris a few years ago, and while walking in the City, came across the large Ferris Wheel. It was after all the festive season, and the Wheel was quite a picturesque addition to the area, though I’d read that it was only a temporary installation.
So fast forward a few years and the wheel of excellence as it was known during its stay in Cape Town, came to visit our shores. It was located at the waterfront offering passengers scenic views of the City and the Waterfront. I understood from the literature that this was the very wheel that was located on the Champs Elysees in Paris. Looking at my images from Paris, it was quite ironic, that in the midst of European winter, the cabins on the wheel were completely open bar a canopy over, the Wheel that came to substantially warmer South Africa had fully enclosed cabins. Perhaps, this was a later addition to the Paris wheel before it came to visit us.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to experience the views from the top, prior to it leaving us a few months ago. I suppose procrastination got the better of me. But I’ll go “next time” it’s here:-)
I did manage to get some shots of the wheel while it visited us, these are the images for today. I’ve included two of the images of the Paris Wheel, but as i said earlier, it was some time ago.
The journey continues…………………………………….
