Weekly Photo Challenge : Relic

The Sassi di Matera (Ancient town of Matera), dates back to prehistoric times, reputed to be some of the first human settlements in Italy. Houses are dug into the rock, resulting in living spaces that are like caverns, with streets in some instances located on roofs of houses below. Declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1993, this town is indeed a “relic”, which happens to be the prompt on the weekly photo challenge this week.
