Depending on their orientation, some of the Buildings on the Atlantic Seaboard, get a golden glow as the sun starts to set. Shining off the glazed facades of the higher, more visible buildings as well as the water, this glow is visible from far away.
Shine is the prompt on the Weekly Photo Challenge this week, and images of Sunset and the reflection off the buildings are my response to the prompt.
Cape Sugarbird enjoying the abundance of choice, in its search for the sweetest spot from numerous fully opened, brightly coloured pincushion flowers at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Cherry on top is the prompt on the Weekly Photo Challenge this week, and images of the sunbird on the Pincushion Flowers are my response to the prompt.
Bob Marley’s “One Love” asked “What about – ? Let’s get together and feel all right”, perhaps we can take a few cues from the Animal Kingdom 🙂
One love is the prompt on the Weekly Photo Challenge, and images of interaction between animals from my recent game drives are my response to the prompt…
Arguably, the National Flag is probably the most prominent symbols of National Pride. Travelling around Istanbul and its surroundings one encounters the Turkey’s National flag in various environments. Symbol is the prompt on the Weekly Photo Challenge this week, and images of some of these environments are my response to this weeks prompt.
Regular readers of my blog may have noticed tha the Sea Point Promenade has featured in a few of my posts over the years. Literally down the road from the City Centre, the promenade is a lively walkway above the sea wall along the Atlantic Seaboard. Weather has a large influence in ensuring this is a changing environment. Anything from raging storms, high winds, dramatic clouds with crashing waves to perfectly placid waters with Seagulls and Paragliders floating over can be encountered there. Facing West, it is the perfect foreground for sunsets into the sea, which introduces another dimension. This dynamic environment has numerous photographic opportunities, and is a muse for many a photographer, myself included.
Muse is the prompt on the Weekly Photo Challenge this week, and a variety of images taken along the Promenade are my response to the prompt.
While walking through Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens recently, I came upon this Spotted Owl in a nest, possibly sitting on some eggs. She turned her head, had a good look at me, and slowly eased back into the dreamy mode again :-):-). Dreamy is the prompt on the Weekly Photo Challenge this week………..

With the arrival of spring in the Southern Hemisphere a few weeks ago, there was an explosion of colour amidst the Fynbos at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Sunbirds having a feast on the numerous species within this floral kingdom. I was out there recently, camera in hand, trying to capture the scene. “Delicate” is the prompt on Ailsa’s Travel Theme this week (www.wheresmybackpack.com), so these images of the commonly called “pincushion” are rather appropriate ………….the journey continues………..
