A recent fire destroyed much of the vegetation on the slopes of a portion of Table Mountain. The route for the 2018 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon Trail Runs traversed this area. I was out there shooting some images of the race and noticed the green shoots of the new vegetation emerging out of the charred landscape.

A field of more than 8000 marathon runners including some of the Elite Marathon Runners in the World, waiting for the Start of the 2017 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon held last weekend. The Cape Town marathon has the distinction of being Africa’s  only IAAF Gold Label status Marathon. Moments later, the waiting was over, the starters gun goes off and the 42.2km marathon is underway.

Stadium seating at the Cape Towns 2010 FIFA World Soccer Stadium has a distinctly ordered appearance when the seats are unoccupied, folded up or down. Add even only a few people and the order in that area dissolves to become secondary, whilst all other unoccupied areas still retain the orderly appearance.

2016 Cape Town Color Run – Glimpses

The 2016 Color Run dubbed the “happiest 5km on the Planet” was held last weekend.. Lots of fun, lots of colour, and as many colourful people turned an ordinary 5km run into an extraordinarily colourful  one 🙂
Cape Town’s start and Finish was at  the Green Point Athletic track leading participants along a scenic route around the Cape Town Stadium precinct. Undoubtedly there was lots of fun, and even more colour :-). These are some of my glimpses as I walked along the route. Were you there ??

The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, held last week, saw a field of 8000 marathon runners take to streets of Cape Town, each on a quest to conquer, perhaps a personal best, their first marathon, maybe their 10th, or maybe a sub 3 hour run. The fast flat route wound it’s way through some of the most significant sites in the City. It turned out that winner Asefa Mengstu Negewo of Ethiopia was on a quest of his own, he broke the long standing South Africa Marathon record, with a finishing time of 2:08:42. Quest is the prompt on the Weekly Photo Challenge this week, and images of the Start and Finish of the Marathon are my response to the prompt.

Glimpses – 2016 Sanlam Cape Town Peace Trail Runs

The routes for the 2016 Sanlam Cape Town 22km and 11km Trail runs allowed runners to rise above the urban environment and immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of nature along the trails of Signal Hill and Lions Head. These are some glimpses of both these events. Images will be added incrementally.
