Two and a half years…that’s how long it’s been since my last blog post…. notwithstanding that, the journey has been very much alive and happening…….
So, considering the long silence, perhaps the first post should be something different, different to any of the images that have appeared on the blog previously.

Lunar Eclipse from Cape Town
A recent fire destroyed much of the vegetation on the slopes of a portion of Table Mountain. The route for the 2018 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon Trail Runs traversed this area. I was out there shooting some images of the race and noticed the green shoots of the new vegetation emerging out of the charred landscape.

More than 11000km separates Iceland from South Africa, so Volcanic Craters and Glaciers are very much outside our World, and being amidst them on a trip earlier this year made it so much more apparent. More images of this memorable trip are featured on my Instagram feed – 4otomo.

Shortly after sunset, the area around the Hvalsnes Church on the Reyknajes Peninsula in Iceland was deserted, with a sense of calm and Silence
A field of more than 8000 marathon runners including some of the Elite Marathon Runners in the World, waiting for the Start of the 2017 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon held last weekend. The Cape Town marathon has the distinction of being Africa’s only IAAF Gold Label status Marathon. Moments later, the waiting was over, the starters gun goes off and the 42.2km marathon is underway.

Built in 1886 the Dom Luis I bridge, spanning approx. 400 metres across the Duoro river in Porto, conveying light rail, general traffic and pedestrians over two levels appears to be way ahead of it’s time. Both decks are suspended by a central arch of 173m in diameter. Originally used as a toll bridge, which changed in 1944, when the bridge was incorporated into the City infrastructure.
